Richard Fawkes is an award-winning playwright, film director and producer. The author of nine books, he has written for television, radio and the stage. His television adaptation, Scenes From Great Expectations, won a Cine Golden Eagle in Chicago and In A Wild Workshop won a prize at the American Film and Video Festival. Priti Paintal’s opera Survival Song, for which he wrote the libretto, was nominated for an Olivier Award, as well as writing the libretto for the opera Biko. For television he directed the award-winning Channel 4 series Tom Keating on Painters and Three LegendaryTenors, which has just been issued on DVD. His History of Opera for Naxos Audiobooks and History of Classical Music both won Talkie Awards.
