Richard Fawkes is an award-winning playwright, film director, producer and writer.
The author of ten books, he has also written for television, radio and the stage. His television adaptation, Scenes From Great Expectations, won a Cine Golden Eagle in Chicago and In A Wild Workshop a prize at the American Film and Video Festival. Richard wrote the libretto for Priti Paintal’s opera Biko, and for Survival Song, which was nominated for an Olivier Award. His History of Opera for Naxos Audiobooks and History of Classical Music both won Talkie Awards. Directing credits include the award-winning Channel 4 series Tom Keating on Painters, Three LegendaryTenors (which is available on DVD), and GF Watts – Victorian Visionary (currently on Sky Arts 2).
